Funky People:

I am known within my circle of acquantainces as the "car person".

I met a young tyke (25) the other day who practically had a heart attack when he heard that I had restored a CS. He was fixing a 80 635CSi Euro. Thing was "almost done, some of it was in boxes, just needed paint, etc."

He hinted that he wanted to sell it due to "changing circumstances". Many of you can attest to the fact that I have no common sense whatsoever when it comes to cars.

Of course I was interested.

I looked through a stack of fotos of an early Euro E24: a tubby, ugly, rotund slab, even with the smaller bumpers. 120k - original motor, rust was repaired, 14 different colors of paint, glass out, bodywork not done, Euro exhaust is iffy, gearbox covered with slimy goo.

I died a thousand deaths just looking at it. 100 hours to finish? 125? Another $3500?

I didn't even ask how much. Thank God I am getting to the point that I can turn and walk away. The CS coupe is horrible money pit but at least it is a good looking car.

E24 is just so damn <blah>.
