From BMWPower.com:

"An exotic 1972 3.0 Si Pickup is car of the month [March 1998].

  • The pictures are from 1980 and though the car is still in the registers, it probably hasn´t been driven in many years.
  • The quality of the pictures dosen´t give the car credit, it looks brand new!
  • The car was built by Trelleborg Bilcentral to be used as company car, and it was no problem to get it approved according to the owner at the time.
  • The roof is cut behind the front seats and then welded with the rear part. The rear window is original.
  • The engine is a stock 200 hp three liter big six. The servosteering is removed because it was considered stealing power from the engine (!). The brakes and the suspension are lightly modified. The six inch rims has Dunlop tyres in the dimension of 205/60 VR 14.
  • Interior are stock with the exception of leather steering wheel, Recaro seat on the drivers side, and a exclusive stereo. "

Early mock-up prototype of the "new" E3 (notice the odd side vents and bumper horns).
A 1977 RHD E3 from South Africa.
These photos were sent from the German E3 Club. This is living proof that E3s are still raced in the Fatherland.
Ron Harnish "drew" this cool picture of a Bavaria during an autocross.
